Marcus Aurelius Would Hate This

Two thousand years ago, a Roman emperor wrote down how to live without craving wealth.
You are going to break those words into pieces and get paid for it.
Marcus Aurelius Would Hate This is an idle pachinko-plinko game. Stoic quotes scroll past. Click the vowels and the letters shatter into gold coins, which tumble through a forest of pegs into five payout lanes. Hit the center lane enough times and the whole machine goes into Golden Hour: twelve seconds of double payouts and zero self-control.
The Stoics said:
- Wealth is an indifferent.
- Desire is a distraction.
- Accept what you cannot control.
This game says:
- Wealth is 5×.
- Desire is a combo meter.
- Hire an Auto-Philosopher to do the controlling for you.
Your tools of ruin:
- AoE Chisel to shatter a whole cluster of letters at once
- Ruin Scavenger to finish off the broken words you leave behind
- Plinko Prisms to split falling coins in three
- The Midas Touch, so merely hovering over a vowel destroys it
Also:
- Collect every quote in the Quote Library. Each one you finish pays out.
- Practice Amor Fati: wipe your run clean and be rewarded with Logos, a permanent bonus.
- Unlock the Marble & Blood and Emerald Void themes by smashing enough wisdom.
- The game saves itself and pays you for the time you were away. Philosophy never sleeps. Neither does greed.
Marcus Aurelius has not reviewed this game. We have a pretty good idea how it would go.
